What is Spandashakti?

Spanda is the pulse that brings life to consciousness & energy. Shakti is considered the "creative dynamic energy" that permeates all existence. Together Spanda and Shakti cajole one another into creation. As we are each a spark of creation, we contain both Spanda and Shakti presence. The animating force which sets these two aspects into action is sadhana. Imagine our sadhana as the incorporation of awareness and reverent curiosity into every breath. This practice has many external forms which we can get attached to.

We do not need to fixate on every tiny external form of awareness and curiosity. Rather we move our awareness to our interiority. If we do not, it is like going to the movies and simply watching the building the movie theater is located in rather than going into the theater. We must enter our internal theater for all of the clues, and signs of who we are and where we are on our unique journey of life. It is a lifelong experiment. What JOY!! It is not a destination rather a slow walk in the forest.

When we turn our attention internally we get to watch the dance of life that is surrounding us.  Every single moment, the shimmer of subtle movement, of spandashakti. And she (yes, SHE)  expresses herself ceaselessly in the rise and fall of those thoughts, emotions, sensations, moment to moment.

We can begin to experience ourselves as pure energy. Shakti ceaselessly expresses herself as the Supernal fullness inside the space between each breath. Imagine that, we can find all the intensity, creativity and LOVE in the spaces between. We can simply set up camp in the luxurious space between the inhale and the exhale. Try it. Set your awareness on the space between and let the spaciousness, the freedom from movement or expectation drop away. It is like floating in the dark waters of the ocean. Something is below and something is above and yet you float on in peacefulness.
